Have the same issues here that I had with A Matter Of Life And Death somewhat mitigated by more interesting performances – John Sweet’s Cooper-ish turn into a small town gumshoe – and a sojourn towards Canterbury in which the Archers are allowed to scale up their images, which serves them better than the scattered, bucolic attempts at English romanticism in a countryside which always remains an abstract and was apparently shot around the area, which lends to its fractured…

If all of your laws for lightning a scene lead you to a place that most night scenes look like a chromed out, lifeless replica of an image, how good were they in the first place? Eggers comes to the image through the text which leads to lots of pretty costumes, but very little intent or motivation to clarify why this needed to be made aside from that he could. But want ≠≠ need.
