"It smells like ass in here. It's making me hungry." This has so many great quotes. I was straight up belly laughing pretty hard throughout the whole thing. The humor is crude and def won't be for everyone but it had me rollin. If you came for the gore, you came to the right place. This one is just as melty, goopy, splattery, squirty, moist, wet and runny as the original if not more so. The melting scenes and skin ripping were so fun and entertaining and the practical effects were amazing! I enjoyed it so much. The big boils filled with blood and neon puss that grow and pulsate before exploding all over are awesome. It was all so gross but lovely to watch. The production value is great. I was so excited for this one ever since they announced the remake and it def did not disappoint. I am a huge fan of body melt horror and this one delivers the goods on that front. Also, the updated story in this one seemed a little more complete and thought out. Has a bit of Hobo with a Shotgun vibe and it also reminded me of VFW quite a bit too. It just has a real grindhouse style. Mix that with the goopy, gorey goodness and this one hits some pretty sweet notes. The cast is strong and the writing was fun. Like I said some of the humor will not hit with all viewers but it 100% did for me. The characters were great and brought their own little fun quirks to the film, especially Chef and Sockle was a fun little addition. I loved the tone and the neon colors but it was still so dirty and grimey. Very cool aesthetic and a very cool version of an old classic. Def worth checking out if you are a fan of the 1987 original or just a body melting horror lover. I had a great time with this one! I think I enjoyed it more than the original. And...that finale was just pure gold!
