  This is a magnificent story. It is so fraught with humans of all types, but this movie does not accurately portray the story. And I’m not saying in a The Shining way, where it’s deliberate. I think the contents of this book are FAR more complex than the movie conveyed. It was not a story of two black boys trying to escape, the book is EVERYONE going through the same thing.   I’m so sorry. I know this was made super cheap and with a bunch of friends and a cool opportunity to use an actual WWII bunker and that makes me SO happy for them as a team, but that was probably the worst movie I’ve ever seen.

  This movie keeps the themes of xenophobia with the eastern man coming west and the newfangled covid 19 being the “plague” whereas in the original, it represents the Spanish flu I think. Money being the destroyer of love and worlds is also part of the incessant themes. I like that
