might be my favorite de palma and one of my favorite giallos if it weren’t for the blatant transphobia. even for the 80s, this was a tough pill to swallow during some scenes.

other than that, yes hahahaah yes!!!!! de palma at his sleaziest and most referential. easily his most hitchcockian, because this is pretty much his psycho. the elevator scene is obviously an homage to the shower scene, but de palma’s classic approach adds a distinct flavor to the sequence. the quick glimpse in the mirror is one of the most bone-chilling shots i’ve ever seen. the sequence in the new york city subway also fucking rocks!
