i LOVE that they gave eric a personality and he bonded with ariel over being on different sides of the same coin. you could see that they truly did have chemistry and that was a really nice touch. especially since in the original there's no bond and ariel js knda gives everything up (which she doesn't do in this one!) they also include important elements like consent and free thinking/self doubt which is such a good thing to show children!!! it takes away the bad connotations of the old one that was made during a more misogynistic time :-) and halle was SO SO SO AMAZINF AND PERFECT FOR THE ROLE . everything else kinda left me wanting more since it was dark a lot of the movie and the songs fell flat as well as the other performances. so a bit disappointing! but all the stars for halle and ariel and eric's little romance
