Film #6 of The December Challenge (2013 Insomniac Edition)
I've become more and more ashamed of the fact that I call myself a cinemaphile in the past few days. The reason for that is... I haven't seen half of the films someone is supposed to in order to call him/herself that. This is one of those films.
This is pure comedy gold. Not because of the jokes themselves, but because of the characters. The Dude, Walter Sobchak and Jesus are just three of the characters that guaranteed the movie the spot it occupies today in many people's favorite movies lists. The characters are just so utterly ridiculous and dumb that it's impossible for you to not laugh at them. I was cracking up at the end of this film. This is one of the Coen Brothers' best movies, and one of the best comedies ever made. And I'm sure it will stay that way for a very long time (if not forever).
