The Loveless

The Loveless

I wouldn´t have thought that Kathryn Bigelow´s feature film debut would give me Jim Jarmusch (the cool, calm, and laidback mood) and David Lynch (the uncanniness and mid-century Americana) vibes but here we are. There even is a David Lynch connection and I don´t mean Willem Dafoe but co-director Monty Montgomery, who is probably best known as the Cowboy in “Mulholland Drive”. “The Loveless” has a typical debut film roughness and doesn´t have much more going for it than cool vibes and the captivating swagger of a young Willem Dafoe but hey, that´s better than nothing.
