“Men in Black” is 90s as hell but it still holds up surprisingly well. It´s a sci fi buddy comedy that doesn´t try to be anything else than entertaining, and that it is. Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith carry the film with their movie star charisma and phenomenal chemistry. The unlikely duo Kay and Jay and their hilarious banter are clearly the most enjoyable aspect of the film. Other strengths include the fascinating and creative worldbuilding, imaginative creature design, outstanding makeup, cool action, and overall stylish flair. The plot is pretty standard and forgettable (I always mix up plot points of the first two movies), but it´s not what you watch this movie for, anyways. “Men in Black” is wonderfully weird, fun, cheeky, and self-aware blockbuster entertainment, and that´s all it needs to be.
