A short and atmospheric early zombie movie classic. There is a lot to like here, such as the exotic Caribbean setting, Voodoo theme, intelligent subtext concerning slavery and colonialism, creepy imagery, and eerie, ambiguous mood. The film is just not very thrilling, let alone scary, by modern standards and at times feels more like a soap opera than a horror film. I can´t say that it burnt itself into my mind but if you want to cross another classic off your watchlist, you can do it in just 69 minutes with this movie.
