Bunny Lake Is Missing

Bunny Lake Is Missing

“Bunny Lake is Missing” is a tight and masterfully crafted psychological mystery thriller filled with paranoia and dread. What´s worse than a missing child? Well, people questioning if your child exists in the first place. A discomforting premise that is executed in an effective, captivating way. It´s easy to sympathize with Carol Lynley who delivers a believable and affecting performance as the desperate mother who is searching for her daughter, and the support by Laurence Olivier and Keir Dullea (the standout, in my opinion) is great, as well. On the technical side, the exceptional blocking and camerawork deserves high praise. When it comes to the mystery, I could predict the gist of the reveal, but the craziness of the climax caught me off-guard. The film goes to some dark and twisted places I didn´t expect. Thriller fans should talk more about this Otto Preminger classic. It´s an underrated gem.
