Thomas’s review published on Letterboxd:
“Boy” is a charming, quirky, and highly original coming of age film that perfectly balances humor and heartfelt drama.
It has loveable characters, strong performances, delightful accents, hilarious situations, relatable and relevant themes, 80s references, a fresh and creative narrative style, and a complex and bittersweet father/son relationship as its emotional core. Taika Waititi is an incredibly charismatic actor and James Rolleston does a fantastic job as well. I really enjoyed their dynamic.
“Boy” is funny, touching, wise, uplifting, and a true comfort film.
