    vengeance has arrived.

This is, what has been my most anticipated movie since it was announced, maybe even my most anticipated movie of all time. I’ve been through it all with this, the Robert Pattinson casting news, when it used to be a Ben Affleck solo film, all of it. numb/encore opening scene omg the aura

I’m on a bit of a Michael Mann high right now, still have Mohicans, The Insider & Ali to get to since Public Enemies & Blackhat aren’t particularly well regarded but this was great. What an incredible spectacle Villenueve has crafted. On rewatch the score and certain sequences hit so much harder and the scale of it all never ceases to be mesmerize. Its themes of the dangers of religious fanaticism, the corruption of power and the manipulation of hope are incredible. Its performances and costumes, incredible. I’m not personally on the “greatest sci-fi movie of all time” or “greatest sequel of all time” bandwagon, but what I can say for sure is that this is cinema on a level of power and scale unknown to man since Return of the King.

who on earth said tobey maguire was charlie chaplin

There’s a lot to unpack here, and I would like to point out that do not expect this to be a 3 hour nonstop manic episode, it only is for half, the final half is melancholic and bittersweet. Babylon has some absolutely beautiful and jaw-dropping scenes, an absolutely banging soundtrack and a star-studded cast. Margot Robbie was as exceptional as she’s ever been, Brad Pitt was as smooth and charming as ever and Diego…
