Bill Skarsgård is transformative. Transcendent. Lily Rose Depp is incredible, Hoult is continuing his run of success, Willem Dafoe is having a belligerent good time, but Skargård is gonzo. Theres nobody committing harder to characters than him. As is my issue with most Eggers’ movies, I struggled to understand most of the dialogue but frankly this movie is easier to understand than the likes of The Witch so I’ll give it that. The look is incredible, as with all Eggers’ movies, but this one stands out to me as maybe the most gorgeous. Whether I like whatever movie he drops or not it’s always something I look forward to because he is one of one and Nosferatu is the main stream example of that.
