A Canterbury Tale 1944
Life goes on for a bucolic British village during World War II in this drama/mystery from Michael Powell & Emeric Pressburger. Everything seems cozy and quaint in Chillingbourne but there's a underlying darkness to it all, from the local children and their elaborate wargames, to the serial gluer of women who has been stalking the streets. As beautiful as anything Powell & Pressburger made in color, with some jaw-dropping chiaroscuro during an early nighttime sequence.

Flight Risk 2025
Flight Risk sets the tone almost immediately by having cops toss Topher Grace onto a cum covered motel comforter, and later features prison-rape-obsessed Barky Mark Wahlberg shitting himself. Now that Redbox is kaput I reckon we'll be seeing a lot more of this Lionsgate DTV dreck on the big screen. Then again, I laughed a lot. Cast and budget aside, should be a dollar rental but Flight Risk is a Mel Gibson film* and it's 2025, baby!
* I got a ticket for One of Them Days and snuck in because while I am able to separate art from the artist, fuck nazis

Skinamarink 2022
The cinematic equivalent of that very specific childhood dread you'd get when your parents left you home to go out for dinner: that they might die in a car accident and leave you alone.
