In terms of story this isn’t all that exciting since the IP had been done over every which way possible. But the craft at display here is simply mesmerizing, every still is gorgeous to look at and it is nothing short of a masterclass in framing and tension.

As someone who is not that engrained into the universe I thought this was a nice addition to the lore. The mix of animation styles in characters and landscape bothered me a bit at the beginning but I got used to it. Much harder to look past however was the constant spoon feeding of every piece of fan service. You can argue that this is a kids film and therefore it needs to be more straight forward in its storytelling,…

Loved where this was heading in the first act but after that it completely fell apart for me

The subject and what they are trying to do here really resonates with me but the half doc half live action element really doesn’t come together well and neither is left enough time to get anywhere

Saoirse Ronan carries this in her back and does an amazing job at that, even with a slightly stale script around her

First rewatch since the big screen, and I feel like this edit is different somehow? Definitely less humor than I remember, which caught me by surprise the first time around

For the Herculean effort and the beautiful mess this is I am glad I saw it in the big screen, but wow is this a bad film at times. So ridden with concepts and loose ends it’s near impossible to follow along, lots of laughs in places where it felt very unintentional. I don’t see myself ever coming back but A for effort I guess?
