The Super Mario Bros. Movie 2023
I hate it when animated movies run for only about 90 minutes, where they are toned down to mere fun without providing enough time to develop any of the characters. I would have loved to see some kind of arc for the characters, adding to the nostalgia, instead of randomly introducing them abruptly. I liked the movie, but I would have loved it even more if it had a longer runtime to establish the characters better!

Leelai 2012
Leelai is the perfect example of how a RomCom can be done right in Tamil Cinema. Interestingly, YouTube hit me with two great romcom recommendations on the same day, and this was one of them. I remember hearing the songs on FM a long tiem ago but never watched the movie, even though it used to be on loop on Kalaigner TV.
Santhanam’s comedy track felt unnecessary and could have been trimmed off. While the themes of the movie are a bit problematic and manipulative, let’s be honest - it’s a romcom! We can just enjoy it as it is!

Vikram 2022
A clearly crafted movie with extraordinary performance from the lead actors. Huge shoutout to Lokesh for getting it from them.
The movie slowly builds up the Vikram character and also silently builds up the cinematic world in parallel for a larger story to be told in future.
There is action in almost every scene and all the action sequences are perfectly executed and felt new. The background score is incredible and elevates the movie to the highest level.

The premise of this story was very interesting….
Loved the way the screenplay was written, the interval shot was so good and well sequenced.
I felt the love sequences were well placed but the songs with lip sync could have been avoided, though the songs were great to hear. It was not matching with the pace of the movie.
