Holiday related memery aside, I still believe that this is the greatest action movie ever made. The characters, the stakes, the gunplay, the set pieces, the splashes of humor, and especially that super effective setting - all these things are just pitch perfect. It’s rare that something so quintessentially American (honestly, read: stupid) fires on all cylinders for its entire duration; and this does just that. Die Hard is cinematic magic, pure brilliance, and poetic schlock. It won’t be topped.
