Rian is trying to be sincere and take big swings which I appreciate but he’s too self aware and embarrassed so it turns into self referential winking that generates tone shifts so sudden it throws off the whole vibe of the movie. Also he can’t hold the third act together even though it’s the prettiest Star Wars movie ever made.
