"Right idea, Mr Bond."
"But wrong pussy."
I think this is a decent film and a more comedic Bond adventure. Sean Connery was not great as James Bond. This has to be his laziest performance yet and it's even more unbelievable given that he was paid a record-breaking $1.25 million salary for the time. Jill St John was good as Tiffany Case, the Bond girl. I liked her attitude and thought she was quite funny. Charles Gray was decent as Blofeld. He is definitely the campiest one so far, but I really enjoyed his performance. The original musical score from John Barry was good. The action was well done. The opening title sequence was alright, but I quite like the song "Diamonds Are Forever" by Shirley Bassey. This is a bit of a weird Bond film in my book. While I don't think it is great, it kinda comes off like an American parody and I have a bit of fun with it. Again, while it may not be a mile-a-minute thriller or even a great spy film, I like the film as a definitely more silly Bond film. I found it to be funny, entertaining and quite witty. I don't think the film is nearly as bad as people like to say it is and I actually really like Bond Girl Tiffany Case. I think the film definitely should have continued on with the subplot of Bond getting revenge for Tracy, but anyways the film is still decent. I give the film a 3.5/5 stars.:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::This film comes to us from Guy Hamilton, director of director of Funeral in Berlin (1966), Battle of Britain (1969), Force 10 from Navarone (1978), and Remo William's: The Adventure Begins (1985), which was a cheesy action comedy that was loads of fun. He also directed the 3rd, 8th, and 9th Bond films Goldfinger (1964), Live and Let Die (1973), and The Man with the Golden Gun (1974). The film was made for $7.2 million.
