David Lynch was a filmmaker I always loved the works of, but sadly not one I found myself returning to as often as others, which I’ve really hated because every single film he’s made (especially out of the four, now five, films of his I’ve seen) feels so unique, and full of so much love and passion for the art form and the story itself. He’s an absolutely incredible director and storyteller from Mulholland Drive to The Straight Story, and I felt I needed to watch a film of his I’d never seen before when I heard of his passing.
All of that being said, Blue Velvet made me hate myself even more for not watching or rewatching any of David Lynch’s films sooner, and it really doesn’t feel like an exaggeration to say he’s one of the greatest filmmakers, if not one of the greatest artists.
