Death Smiles on a Murderer 1973
I really had to convince myself to finish this one. That first hour is rough. so many narrative pivots. A psychological trip of a movie that (eventually) delivers on some moments of hilarity that only '70s euro-horror can provide. Featuring the greatest use of cat-related death on screen. It's perfect no notes.

Sooo if I understand anything from my precursory google search on visual landscape theory, first introduced to me in form through Masao Adachiβs A.K.A. Serial Killer, our cameraβs perspective has shifted away from the implications of any crime scene photo tainting the image of a particular place or location into its exact opposite. Instead of violence turning landscapes into a sort of symbol for perversion, the landscapes are shown divorced from any sensational attachments, as is, in its material reality.β¦

if you love this movie as much as I do please consider watching the directorβs commentary if youβre able. wim has so many great little tidbits that really upped my genuine love for this film. the work that he and sam shepard did on the screenplay is so beautiful. it really is something special. π
