Top gun started a new revolution in filmmaking, but in terms of action, the sequel leaves the blockbuster flick of the 80s to dust, thanks to cinematography and sound design. Thanks to the direction of Kosinski, each shot was crisp and each scene spectacular; The opening, the training, and the ultimate mission. Top Gun Maverick is an out-of-bounds explosion of afterburner exhaust, remarkable fighter jet choreography, and a hundred Gs ofย adrenaline rushes. The fandom, indulgence, and nostalgia were at its peak throughout. This movie will make you understand, to what heights an unparallel dedication of someone can take the industry of filmmaking to. At no place will you see heavy use of CGI and VFX. Throughout the film, you are with Maverick inside the cockpit.
The primary notion of Maverickย is that he crafts the most capable crew for the assignment while manyย of the relationships from 1986 and their intricacies are exposed.ย Many viewers who viewed the 1st part recently might think of the sequel as a comparably more cheesy one of the two. I assure not a single speck of cheese flows in the screenplay. Trust me, all these little things won't matter because of the last half hour of pure spectacle, thrill, cheers, and tears. This sequel has to be visually experienced on the big screens. Period.
The shared moment between Maverickย and Icemanย got me very emotional, and you need to know their past to really understand the emotional weight that Maverick is carrying. My "Goose" Rohan and I were teary-eyed in the ending scenes. The movie is impressive not only because of its action scenes but also because of the uncountable emotional strings that run through it: the complicated relationship between Maverick and Rooster being the most prominent one. Kudos to the entire cast for putting in their everything to create this finesse.
Acting in complex roles in obscure and layered screenplays like eyes wide shut collateral and magnolia, the guy's name should be respected not just as a star but also as an actor. Maverick as a whole has helped me learn that the most minor things might have the heaviest emotional value.
