This was my first time watching a Marx Brothers comedy so I really didn't know what to expect but ended up loving the style of humor. Duck Soup is a rapid-fire chaotic comedy with at least a joke a minute and enough one liners to make your head spin. They're coming so quickly that even when you don't find something funny it's on to the next one before it can bother you. The misfires started occurring less and less for me as the film went on and by the time you're in the back half it's impossible not to be completely in tune with its comic sensibility. The mirror gag is famous for a reason and provides probably the best scene but I may have laughed hardest at the montage of "help on the way" during wartime which really encapsulates the anarchic energy of it all. Convinced me to check out more Marx Brothers for sure.
