Rafael "Parker!!" Jovine’s review published on Letterboxd:
Watching the movie after hearing about it and seeing clips for so long, I can understand why it became as popular and iconic as it did. It's a movie that incredibly shines on its simplicit. The script, along with the costumes and performances, are all in sync, creating a movie of the kind that's meant to become an instant classic of sorts.
The performances are also great all time around. The manner in which Page's carefree and sarcastic personality was displayed elevates the material to the point of becoming so easy to relate to. You could also see the maturity and heart beneath all the sarcasm. Even though she’s on worry mode for the majority of the movie, Garner shines through the screen, and when it comes to that mall scene, you instantly find yourself also rooting for her. Bateman is also very good, and the fact that he has an in-depth knowledge of horror flicks scored some bonus points with me, despite everything in the end. Cera was being Cera and he was good as Cera.
All in all, with its delightful combination of small nuances and exciting new ideas to the genre, this film is entertaining as it emphasizes the relevance of the topic at hand without being derivative.
