Very funny bit that I Don't Wanna Fight by Tina Turner is briefly on the soundtrack for this
At its core, it's a basic revenge story that sees the hero rise from the alleys to the penthouse floor. Don't go in expecting a whole lot of surprises, other than seeing what gets used as a stabbing weapon in the final confrontation. I wish that the fight scenes didn't rely so heavily on the shakycam, especially hearing how Bruce Lee was such a major influence. No matter what, Dev's passion for the project is infectious, and he makes sure that this never becomes some direct-to-streaming vanity project. Nice debut!
On the press tour for this, Dev should have hinted that this was what it was like on set for Henry Sugar - Wes is a tyrant, and this is his stress reliever. Who's going to call that man a liar
