The buddy-cop-style comedy aspects of this were surprisingly fun, and I found myself laughing a lot more than I expected, but that’s about where my compliments end. Shawn Levy simply makes ugly-looking films and is a bad director. This film could definitely be a lot better if it didn’t insist on being this nightmarish cesspit of cameos and callbacks. Such a cheap and sinister mantra to build a story around, and given the direction the MCU is taking with a certain recast, I can see the onslaught of key jangling only getting worse.
