He thinks he’s ugly, and she thinks he’s beautiful. And isn’t that what it’s all about? What a beautiful thing—to walk into a convenience store at 2 in the morning, see a heart-shaped cookie and think of somebody else. Even that dingy motel is suddenly sweet. She hangs her dress up on that bent hanger, and he takes his red boots off, and they aren’t even under the covers. And that is why this is my favorite movie.

The Brown Bunny 2003
I thought it would be silly but it was beautiful. Vincent Gallo is beautiful and so are the shots of Chloe Sevigny’s feet. All those driving scenes— Gallo looking for someone he can never have or find again. Waiting for someone in a hotel room… There are so many sunny scenes in the beginning and so much color, like when he’s at the salt flats and there’s that clear blue sky. It all feels muted and chaotic somehow, until the end when he unravels. It’s really just about grief..
