Saltburn

lord lord lord may have to give this puppy a second watch before I give my final final review but I REALLY liked it.

it was just such a blast start to finish, like the way it was shot is gorgeous (as is AHEM Jacob elordi in this movie COUGH COUGH) and the characters, likeable or not, are all really interesting.

I feel like it has to be said that I went into this thing BLIND, and I mean BLIND BLIND. I didn't have a single clue so when the whole bike meet (not)cute happened I was like awwww forbidden romance I love it and then. the rest of the movie happened?? and I'm GLAD it did, he became so interesting after he murdered people.

it started by giving dead poets society before transitioning to the talented mr ripley and finding call me by your name somewhere along the way, and while it doesn't quite rise to the excellence of any of these in my opinion, the ability to straddle them is impressive.

I feel like people are taking this film a tad too seriously, like I'm sure it is trying to make a commentary and my dumbass is not smart enough to fully unpack it all on the first watch, but I think first and foremost it wants to be a fun fucking watch. and I feel like it achieves that???

looking forward to a dracula esque sequel where Oliver is a reclusive and murderous millionaire (he did say he was a vampire after all...)
