I just don’t know if Wes Anderson is for me. I loved The Grand Budapest Hotel but nothing else has clicked. I’ve always felt a sort of distance when watching his projects. With this one, I just couldn’t find it in myself to care. There’s no doubt that it was technically great. The set design is marvelous. It’s the story and sequence of events that don’t grab my attention. I feel indifferent which kind of sucks.

The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special 2022
Heartwarming and feel good in true guardians fashion. I loved that they managed to develop these characters and their dynamics a bit. I find the Drax/Mantis dynamic particularly amusing. They really pulled at my heartstrings with the Yondu bit.

Petite Maman 2021
“You didn’t invent my sadness”
On an emotional level, it didn’t hit hard so there is a bit of a disconnect for me. It’s a short film but unfortunately, it did feel long. Once the reveal happened, I appreciated this a lot more. Not only is it a cool touch but it elevates the themes of the film. Friendship, grief and family are depicted through the lens of 2 young girls. We see how perceptive kids can be but also their innocence and honesty. It’s very sweet and heartwarming.

Was going to give this a 1.5 but the ending was fun. Everything else bored me. I found the tone strange.

Am I OK? 2022
I love coming of age films for adults. I thought this was very sweet and endearing. I loved how quiet this film was. Just very mundane - no glitz and glam or chaos or over the top scenes. Felt genuine and easy to relate to.
The central friendship is so important and a highlight of the film.
