Different beats than your typical inspirational sports movie. It’s refreshing to see the aftermath/reality of succeeding especially for a young Black woman in a “non female” sport.
The second half was very much “where are we going/what are we heading towards now” though. Brings depth to the characters and makes sense for the story but idk. It felt a little like two movies in one.

Ryan Destiny and Brian Tyree Henry are fantastic.

Meh. Pretty unforgettable and the plot plus pacing wasn’t great. Denzel washes everyone of course. Paul isn’t bad but the role doesn’t do him any favors. He doesn’t really do much. Fred Hechinger and Joseph Quinn have fun performances.

a solid and entertaining movie with a good plot and fight sequences but nothing extraordinary imo wasn’t as great as others have hyped it up to be

I see why this is considered a Christmas classic. So heartwarming.  Those last 10 minutes are wonderful.

Only thing that would make this better is if Donna Reed had a bigger role. Give her a meaty monologue or something to make her seem like an actual person

Beautiful gowns…… justice smith amazing as always but I was unfortunately bored to tears. It came close to moving as some parts but otherwise not for me

I agree with the critiques about the lack of interiority. Who even is Ani? A throwaway line or two would've sufficed. Just something to get a better sense of Ani is. Why is being with Ivan a "good" thing and why is she in denial about their relationship. What does she want other than the assumed "better life"? By the time her walls come down, the movie is over.
The second half of the movie puts focus on Igor way…

    Eyes Wide Shut

    ★★★

Everything was great. The score. The ominous dread. The performances. The direction. But I must not have gotten it because I couldn't get into it. I just didn't care about the central marriage or anybody's desires. It was too slow for me.

Angelina Jolie is a once-in-a-lifetime talent. She is truly singular and elevates the film. Her performance is devasting yet elegant. She has this enigmatic quality that is perfect for Maria.

The actual film is gorgeous and feels dream like in many ways but isn't particularly impactful on its own. It's a bit messy. I wish it delved deeper into who Maria was.

Taron Edgerton is great. I had a blast. And Danielle Deadwyler can do anything. Loads of fun and very entertaining. The thrills keep coming

This is a tough one. I just don’t think it’s for me. I found it painfully slow. And honestly, I just don’t think I understood it. The visions definitely went over my head.
There’s certainly something whimsical and poetic about searching for lost things (an adventure in itself) while dealing with the loss of a loved one.  I found the movie quite haunting as well. Grief and grave robbing intertwining was definitely intriguing. The second half did more for…
