The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It

The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It

Latest entry in the Conjuring universe is competently directed by Michael Chaves, and is much better than his previous entry in the series (Curse of La Llorona).  The central premise is compelling, and the move to take the series away from the “haunted house” motif does give it some revitalizing energy.  There are a handful of effective set pieces that keep you on your toes, but in no way can this compete with either of the previous Conjuring films.
I’m all for Ed & Lorraine’s relationship being celebrated, for their connection is one of the key elements of the story, but this film lays it on pretty thick with the flashback of their early days together, and could’ve been much subtler about it.
All told, it is entertaining and well made, and was a fun movie to see in the theater.
