Self Reliance

Self Reliance

There are a number of actors that frequently play the “every man” character. Most of these actors are largely relatable but have some sort of personality quirk that I can make a definitive distinguishment from myself. But with Jake Johnson, in this, and some of his other films, I am unable to see how he isn't me. For that reason, I like this. It's almost a personal, interactive experience of how a crazy situation like this would play out for me.

Besides that, the film was just alright. This definitely felt like a low budget, indie flick in not necessarily the most flattering way. Interesting concept with some unexpected, interesting scenes, it felt like they could have paid a little more attention to rounding the edges and following through on a more satisfying storytelling effort.
