Sweet and poignant, and absolutely, positively bonkers from start to finish, Swiss Army Man is a wonderfully creative and thoughtful slice of cinematic entertainment that while imperfect is the perfect representation of the types of films we clamor so hard for yet take such a disappointingly small part in supporting. It's a film that truly knows what it is and openly embraces those aspects of itself in order to make itself better.
Centered on a possibly insane man driven to crazy as he finds a renewed sense of hope upon discovering a dead corpse that farts, it's quite shocking how the film manages to work so well without tipping into the realm of pure silliness - something attributed to it due to how well Daniel Scheinart utilizes this to serve a strong and potent thematic purpose and simultaneously using it to add much needed comedic levity as the film descends into a surprisingly existential angle. Throughout, however, its heavily anchored by the duo chemistry offered by both Paul Dano and Daniel Radcliffe - the latter of who gives his all in a true method performance for the ages.
Swiss Army Man needs to be seen to be believed. As unique as it is insane and as heartwarming as it is funny, Daniel's purposeful utilization combined with meaningful performances adds up to a unique feel-good film that hits more than it misses.
