after a rewatch it might go up to 5 stars but i feel good leaving at this for now.
Kaluuya, Palmer and Yeun star in a chilling motion picture that explores grief, fame, consumerism and exploitation. Each of them play their roles beautifully, but Yeun's stood out to me the most i think. He played Jup so well, you can see the mask he wears to hide his pain. And also shoutout to Perea in his breakthrough role, adding comedic relief and brevity.
Nobody in this movie really took time to grieve from their traumatic experiences, they are forced to get back to work with those demons torturing their souls because at the end of the day, they need the fame, which gets them the money they need to survive. keeping this review spoiler free, but we see that drive for fame and fortune lead to the demise of many.
it took me a while to find the words to describe this, but after letting it sit a few days, i get it mr. peele i really do.
peele is 3/3 btw, cant wait to see what else monkeypaw productions has in store!
