I am not a Deadpool girlie in the slightest (the second caused me to retrospectively hate the first) but this one restored my faith. Charming, mostly funny, and not egregiously long - I never fault bored and I was constantly entertained. A lot of the repeat jokes don’t land, but everyone is having a good time and that’s pretty infectious. The nods to the Fox universe of old, and the characters who’ve had a pretty tough time from audiences, were actually very nice, and respectful compared to other films that use the same nostalgia fuelled cameos as a mean spirited punchline. At times a roaring buddy comedy, at others a touching love letter to the movies I grew up with. Not perfect, but not bad either. A fun trip to the movies.
