lots to love here like mark ruffalo’s dancing, but a bit one note. tbf its gonna be hard af for yorgos to top killing of a sacred deer, the lobster, and dogtooth for me. while i think it’s amazing that he’s exploring his more whimsical impulses without so much stark brutality, poor things does seem to float around on a surface level surrealism in which neither joy nor suffering seem to carry very much weight to really sink in. reminded me a lot of gondry’s mood indigo, which earned much more pathos and is a lot stronger.
