Well that was a mess but it was a relatively fun mess!

I loved seeing a bunch of friendly faces from I Wanna Hold Your Hand (especially Nancy Allen and Wendie Jo Sperber) and Belushi made me laugh pretty hard a good number of times. But the various plot threads make it feel like the movie ends a few times and it’s a weirdly long 2 hours (glad I didn’t watch the extended cut).

I did like it to a…

A near perfect adaptation (I think the Netflix series is a little better!) that celebrates the spirit of art and laughter on a truly epic scale.

I always lose it at how Jordan Peele and Nick Kroll both completely disappear into and destroy their roles. I think I enjoyed Helms, Middeditch, and Harr more on this second go round but I do wish George and Harold sounded even more like kids. The TV show fixes that for me and brings…

Got to see this at my local Angelika and properly mourn and celebrate David Lynch with a nearly full house.

I went in ready to bask in the beauty and sadness (and I did). But the best part for me was experiencing the whole crowd remember or realize that Billy Ray Cyrus cucked Justin Theroux.

    What a masterpiece.

This was tonight‘s secret screening at the Angelika in my area! Just a really fun, thrilling, set them up, knock them down horror/thriller movie with great performances.
Highly highly recommend you go check this one out, everybody !!!

Sophie Thatcher has firmly become a “rooting for them” young actress for me and I loved seeing my favs Harvey Guillen and Jack Quaid keep doing what they excel at. The rest of the cast is great too!!!

First watch after my recent break up and I picked a real humdinger of a picture.

Gorgeous shots, a compelling global and interstellar mystery, deeply flawed human characters all doing their best, and gorgeous special effects. And the score! My god John!!!

Dreyfuss is fantastic of course but man I had no idea Teri Garr was so great in this. I love her in Young Frankenstein and I knew people were giving her her flowers for this too when she…

    Good movie!!!

Beautiful John Williams score, strong performances (William Atherton is very different when he’s young and not playing a coked out asshole), and there are many really beautiful shots including the cinematic equivalent of Baby Shoes For Sale Never Worn.

Goldie Hawn’s earnest and misguided characterization of Lou Jean did break my heart by the end and I did tear up, she did a wonderful job.

The most unbelievable thing in this movie is an 18 year Police Captain having a no kill record and placing gun nut reserve cops under arrest.

Still I liked it! Good job Spielberg on your first theatrical.

Beautiful lighting and cinematography, a few great performances (Lily Rose Depp, Nicholas Hoult, Willem Dafoe, Ralph Ineson), one big bold, scary, and silly performance ( Bill Skarsgard) and one performance that I really didn’t care for (ATJ.)

Also you gotta love a villain who is a lot of different evil/harmful things to different people.

Glad I saw it in a theater!

Decided to enjoy some very good improv after today’s somber mood (RIP David Lynch).

A snowy day in Dallas means I FINALLY watched the instant comedy classic. I tried to see it twice in theaters this year but was thwarted by COVID and out of town travel. So we finally watched it today with ads on YouTube (which ended up still being a rock solid way to watch it!)

Everything everyone else said is true. This is a laugh out loud madcap comedy that feels like a perfect blend of a 1920s-1930s Buster Keaton/Looney…

And so my watch along of the Lynch movies ends with a weird, long, always surreal, and often boring art movie that I respect but is really really not for me.

Glad I watched for completion’s sake but I’m for sure not gonna revisit this one.

It does stand as further testament that Laura Dern can do anything, she is easily the most engaging part of this. She never feels lost as an actress even if her character is lost…

Man, Spielberg really did have the juice from Day 1 (though I knew that cause I’ve seen the Columbo pilot.) Duel rules!

Extremely effective camera placement and thrilling driving sequences mixed in with some old school paranoia and social ineptitude from a very in the pocket Dennis Weaver.

The driving part of this is my personal nightmare (I hate driving especially on unfamiliar roads and at high speeds). I do think I could have confronted this guy verbally if I…

All my TFS friends inflate their numbers with shorts so I might as well log the occasional Looney Tune on here!

This one has some good gags and a great Bugs lady disguise but it’s biggest stand out is that it’s the rare case where Bugs is defending someone other than himself.

The racist caricature villain holds it back from standing the test of time but this is a solid Chuck Jones entry for sure.
