Deadpool & Wolverine

Deadpool & Wolverine

I'm of two minds with this one, which seems fitting.

"I want to matter."

First, the good. Deadpool & Wolverine achieves an incredible level of meta, celebrating not only the uncanny genre of superhero comic movies, but the amazing reasons we enjoy them. The comic references are executed well, the callbacks are fantastic, and the story hits plenty of savagely fun beats throughout.

"Can we just be done? With the whole multiverse thing?"

All that said, as an MCU continuation, Deadpool & Wolverine is overly indulgent and inherently messy. Instead of simplifying things for one central thorough-line, this film emboldens unnecessary complexity by staying indecisive and ultimately adjacent. Add in a few logic holes and the odd concept of "anchor beings", and the result is a mixed bag that feels generally unsatisfying.
