“You’re Fired”
True Lies is an absolute certified banger.
I’m convinced James Cameron can do anything. True Lies is this espionage action comedy that also doubles as a family drama…and it works so well.
A film about double lives and the eventual
inevitability of those two words colliding is showcased in this film to the most extreme of extremes.
I feel like True Lies was also very influential on the genre, there’s a portion of the film where Arnold Schwarzenegger is riding on a horse through the city and it made think of John Wick 3, there was a visceral and violent bathroom fight scene that reminded me of Mission Impossible: Fallout. There were even moments of comedy that reminded me of films like 2024’s Hit Man from Richard Linklater as well as 2024’s The Fall Guy.
I love a good action movie and True Lies was a good action movie.
