So many times while watching The Tragedy Of Macbeth did I repeat to myself
“Denzel Washington Is The Greatest Actor To Ever Exist”
It’s like his charisma and screen presence was made to perform Shakespearean dialogue.
Macbeth being my favorite Shakespeare play and Denzel being my favorite actor of all time…I had a feeling I was going to enjoy all of the nuances that Denzel could bring to this timeless and tragic story about greed, violence, and guilt.
I love this film’s aesthetic, I think the black and white cinematography from Bruno Debonnel really allows us to hone in on the great performances that this film has to offer. Denzel, obviously being the stand out but Corey Hawkins who is steadily becoming one of my favorite actors to watch, was amazing in the film as well.
I think Joel Coen as opposed to his brother Ethan is more in line with the movies I like to watch, and I think Tragedy Of Macbeth being his first official solo offering after their split was a great one.
