Alien: Covenant has some high highs and some low lows. 

While watching this movie at moments I was enthralled, couldn’t keep my eyes off the screen, the lore and world building of this film sucked me in as I followed this crew of colonizers discover this new planet and eventually meet their various fates.

What didn’t work for me was whenever this film got very action heavy, specifically in the last 20 minutes of the film, I was taken out of what I loved most about this film.

What works best in Alien: Covenant is its mystery, its world building, and moments of tension. This film at its best feels like the best parts of Alien (1979) and Prometheus (2012). At this films worst it feels like a poor continuation of Prometheus (2012) and at times a cheap imitation of the great action of Aliens (1986)

I still enjoyed it watching this film, I just wished I liked it more.
