Halloween

Halloween

Spooktober #5 – A happy rewatch.

When that sprawling score hits, you know you’re in for a treat, and even if you venture through all the Halloween movies, the score might still be the only good thing across the entirety of the franchise. It’s just that good.

You might see phallic symbols, sexual repression, feminism, and gender roles, and that’s fine. Halloween thrives in its simplicity which allows quite a lot of (slightly speculative) interpretations.

But one thing’s for sure; the reason the movie remains spine-chillingly popular is not because people think Michael Myers is running around with a dick in his hand, it’s because you relate to the characters who are being targeted by a knife-wielding inhuman human with indecipherable motivations. That’s triggering, that’s scary, and it has been throughout all our years on this planet.

Happy Halloween.
