A Real Pain

A Real Pain

94/100 - Comedic in a dark way, ‘A Real Pain’ is a simple yet effective road trip movie with a lot to say, and for audiences to think about. What we have is almost like a darker, modern ‘Planes, Trains, & Automobiles’. The vulnerable dynamic of a person in relation to relationships, friendship, and family legacy is perfectly captured by writer-director Jesse Eisenberg. It’s both touching, and bittersweet, as you’ll laugh, and feel sadness with the two fantastic main characters. And it goes without saying that the standout is Kieran Culkin, who should absolutely win the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor.

“You light up a room and then you shit on everything in it.”
