this rules!! so impressed by dev patel’s work here. not only writing and producing, but directing? acting?! getting crazy jacked and doing all the full-on fight choreography?!?

brutal action on par if not better than most of the john wick stuff, with super stirring emotional beats to boot. love how monkey man’s past and present crossover and connect throughout the film, really stylistic approach to the whole thing which i dug.

there were a few little things that were lame, like the trans templars all of a sudden knowing how to fight like maniacs, and the titular monkey man going to all the effort to bleach his monkey mask a sick as white only to not even use it - but i loved this! really enjoy when simple stories get real spiritual and mythological with it all, and this really delivered there too.
