The concept is fire and the film looks great. So glad to see Josh Harnett star in a big summer film but man, this had a lot of flaws.

It stretches out the idea pretty far and never goes to the full extremities. I know a lot of M Night’s work is PG-13 but this could have used some more brutality and a Rated R feel.

Our killer the butcher is pretty sinister but we only see stuff implied and some very minimal things done at the concert arena. I liked his sort of back story with his mommy issues and how precise he was with everything.

I didn’t like how M. Night’s daughter’s pop music was shoved down our throats. I mean it didn’t sound too terrible and I know that 75% of the movie takes place at a concert but still. She definitely cannot act and shouldn’t have been such a pivotal piece and how this story ends up. I know in a lot of his movies some of the acting is suspect but man it gets on my nerves. I’ve been an M Night hater since I was able to comprehend films, with only a handful of movies that really stick out for me that I can admit I enjoy. I hate a lot of his material and especially the dumbass twists. I think for this film I did like it, but that’s about it. I didn’t hate it, I didn’t love it. I just liked it. The concept in itself is so fun and it has its moments of chaos and a convincing performance from Josh Harnett. The flaws probably out way the good for it but it’s still decent.
