The Brutalist looks deep into the poison of the American Dream and how that false promise generates so much unfathomable evil, with a finale that is clear in its intensions and I question how so many take at face value. Brady Corbet is a name we should keep be looking for, and Lol Crawley’s cinematography in tandem feels like perfection. Also, why isn’t this the clear film to sweep all the acting awards?

Go see Nickel Boys. Know nothing about and go in and sit in that theater so you can have your life changed. A powerful reflection into how the institutions of our past change form and cause the same levels of inequitable harm now. Frightening and haunting and shocking in how it can radiate such strong emotion with it’s POV framework, literally putting us in the shoes of our protagonists trying to shape our understanding of the world around them. Deserves to be the frontrunner this Oscars season.

Even though their…

Yeah, disregard the other review, I love this now, WHAT A FUCKING BANGER!!!!!! Holy shit, seeing this with a new lens helps me understand both the love people have for this film and also how this film feels like the tonal inverse of Eggers’ film, which explains why those people may not have loved it. Lots of perfect performances, but I did not give Keanu enough credit for his role here.

Growing up, I never felt like I was a boy. I felt for a long part of my life I was chasing something else, and at one point I assumed that meant being a man. And then I remembered the first dream where I was a woman and I woke up with my pillow wet covered in tears. But that also never felt right and it would be a long time until I understood my gender and it was through…
