    "Everything was about to change"

The roots of evil, of every event of horror in the history of mankind, can be traced back to the very beginning.

I am baffled that this film does not frequent every list of the greatest films ever made. Simply one of cinemas finest hours, one of the greatest achievements in the history of the seventh art.

"The human mind is willing to accept anything if used knowingly"

The greatest MΓΆbius strip and cinematic labyrinth ever put to film.

The story-within-story structure, reaching six or seven narrative layers at one point, makes for some of the most thematically well-executed structuring I have ever seen.

This is even better on a second viewing. Truly a film you have to see to believe.

Not everything has to be deeply profound and powerful to be great. This is a perfect example of how to make a good comic book action movie.…

"You just want to change me, but I'm like the world. This world will never change."

    Edward Yang's Tapestry of life.

A brighter summer day is a film about finding your identity in a chaotic world. After the Chinese civil war many Chinese would move to Vietnam and would live under military rule, at the time in society all Vietnamese were classified as either "natives"- People who were born in Vietnam or "mainlanders"- People who had moved to Vietnam after…
