Chris Kirby’s review published on Letterboxd:
Look, like, this special has some laughs and Kevin Bacon is terrific but this is such a cookie cutter copy of awful Christmas specials that I didn’t even see it as a satire or homage. It was just a bad Christmas special. Awful lighting, uninteresting camerawork, characters drawn so blandly that you forget you like them from the other movies you joined them in, and a plot so thin and schmaltzy that it feels more like a checklist than it does a well intentioned and executed story. This is really bad. But it’s still enjoyable for all those reasons and depending upon how much you like these characters it might still be a hit for you. But only Drax and Mantis really do anything so it really boils down to how much you like those characters.
I had a modicum of fun and absolutely loved Kevin Bacon but overall this felt really dire to me. Sorry.
