works magnificently as a thrilling film noir but there really is something so sad underneath the surface here about the desire to be desired and how it consumes people. the entertainment industry has always had a way of eating people up, filling their egos, then spitting them back to the world worse than they came in. feels equally, if not more, relevant now.
