In 1989, my mom took me to see the original Little Mermaid as my first ever movie in theaters. She said afterwards she asked me what I thought and I said “I didn’t like when the monster killed the daddy” - who knows, I was two. 

Today my mom and I went and saw the remake and had a great time talking about that first trip to the movies and all the movies in between. Thanks Mom for installing a love of film in me and helping me enjoy it to this day.
